Router
A router is a special purpose computer or program responsible for
directing the packets of information on the Internet. Routers read the
headers indicating packet destinations and use an internal routing table to
replace the header to direct packets toward their ultimate destination.
Router is also used to indicate a gateway or access terminal to the larger
network--an on-ramp.
